The Importance of Forming an Indonesian Tourism Development Committee

Problems in the tourism sector in Indonesia are a topic that is often discussed. One of the main problems is the lack of adequate infrastructure to support tourism growth. Many tourist areas in Indonesia are still difficult to access due to damaged roads or lack of adequate public transportation. This makes tourists reluctant to visit these places.

Apart from that, another problem faced by Indonesian tourism is the lack of effective promotion. Many tourist destinations are not yet widely known both at home and abroad. Ineffective promotion means that Indonesia's tourism potential is not fully explored. Greater efforts are needed to promote the beauty and uniqueness of Indonesian tourist destinations so that they can attract tourist interest.

Another issue that needs attention is cleanliness and environmental sustainability in tourist destinations. Several tourist attractions in Indonesia often experience waste problems that are not handled properly. This can damage natural beauty and reduce tourist attraction. It is important for the government and society to work together to maintain cleanliness and environmental sustainability in tourist destinations so that Indonesian tourism can develop well.

Challenges of Large Areas

Tourism in Indonesia faces various geographical challenges. With more than 17,000 islands, Indonesia has extraordinary natural wealth, but also faces difficulties in managing and promoting tourist destinations spread throughout the archipelago. One of the main challenges is accessibility, because some remote tourist destinations are difficult to reach by public transportation. Therefore, greater efforts are needed to build adequate transportation infrastructure to facilitate tourist travel.

Apart from that, tourism sustainability is also a challenge that needs to be considered. In developing tourism, it is important to consider the impact on the local environment and culture. Conservation and sustainable management efforts must be carried out to maintain the natural beauty and unique culture of Indonesia so that it remains sustainable. The government and tourism actors also need to work together to educate tourists about the importance of protecting the local environment and culture so that tourism in Indonesia can develop sustainably.

Another challenge is the promotion of Indonesian tourism in the international market. Even though Indonesia has great tourism potential, there are still many destinations that are not widely known internationally. Therefore, greater efforts are needed to promote the natural beauty, cultural richness and friendliness of the Indonesian people to foreign tourists. Effective marketing campaigns and collaboration with international travel agents can help increase the number of tourist visits to Indonesia. In this way, tourism in Indonesia can continue to develop and provide significant economic benefits.

The Importance of Forming an Indonesian Tourism Development Committee

The formation of the Indonesian Tourism Development Committee is a very important and strategic step to improve the tourism sector in this country. With the existence of this committee, it is hoped that there will be an increase in formulating policies and strategies for sustainable tourism development, so that it can have a positive impact on the growth of Indonesian tourism.

Apart from that, the role of the Indonesian Tourism Development Committee in facilitating collaboration between the government, private sector and society is very vital. With good cooperation between various related parties, it is hoped that strong synergy can be created in developing Indonesian tourism, so that it can increase the tourist attraction of this country.

It is hoped that with the existence of the Indonesian Tourism Development Committee, there will be an increase in ideas and innovation to increase the competitiveness of Indonesian tourism at the global level. It is hoped that this committee can become a forum for various creative thoughts that can bring Indonesian tourism to a better level and provide maximum benefits for the country.

Main Duties and Functions of the Committee

The main task and function of the Indonesian Tourism Development Committee (KPPI) is to develop and advance the tourism sector in Indonesia. KPPI is responsible for formulating policies and strategies for sustainable tourism development, as well as coordinating with various related parties. This committee also has an important role in promoting Indonesia's tourism potential at the national and international level.

One of KPPI's main tasks is to conduct analysis and evaluation of the development of the tourism sector in Indonesia. By carrying out regular monitoring, KPPI can identify the potential and obstacles that exist in tourism development. Apart from that, KPPI is also tasked with coordinating tourism development programs carried out by the government and the private sector, in order to achieve the stated goals.

Apart from that, KPPI also has a function as a forum for communication and coordination between the government, the community and tourism industry players. This committee plays a role in facilitating dialogue and cooperation between various related parties, in order to create synergy in tourism development. In this way, KPPI acts as a liaison between the interests of the government, society and tourism industry players in an effort to increase the competitiveness of the Indonesian tourism sector.

Committee Organizational Structure

The organizational structure of the Indonesian Tourism Development Committee consists of three main parts. The first is the Steering Committee consisting of key stakeholders in the tourism industry. They are responsible for the direction and activities carried out by the committee for tourism development in Indonesia.

Under the Steering Committee, there is a Secretariat which has an important role in carrying out the administration and internal coordination of the committee. The secretariat is tasked with collecting and conveying information related to tourism development activities and policies to committee members. In addition, the Secretariat also functions as a coordination center for programs and projects implemented by the committee.

Apart from the Steering Board and Secretariat, the Indonesian Tourism Development Committee is led by a Committee Chair. Committee members consist of representatives of relevant ministries, tourism associations, hotels, transportation services and other related private sectors. With a well-organized organizational structure, it is hoped that tourism development in Indonesia can run more effectively and efficiently. The Steering Committee and Committee Chairs are appointed by the Ministry of Tourism and Members are sent from representatives of these institutions.

The Committee has technical divisions whose duties and functions include planning, organizing, implementing and controlling Indonesian tourism development programs. These divisions are filled with workers who are recruited professionally to carry out these tasks.

All budgets for the Tourism Development Committee come from the APBN. For example, France allocates a budget of 800 million Euros which is managed by Atout France, a tourism development agency in France. This makes the tourism industry a strategic economic sector which contributes 14% to GDP on 2023

With the existence of professional technical divisions and a budget originating from the APBN, Indonesia's tourism development program can be carried out effectively. This shows the seriousness of the state in developing tourism and how important proper budget management is in developing the tourism sector into a strategic economic sector. Thus, it is hoped that Indonesian tourism can also make a significant contribution to the country's economic growth.
