Ministry of The Tourism and Creative Economy to increase the number of foreign tourist visits from Vietnam to Indonesia.

 Jakarta, March 14 2024,- The Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy/Tourism and Creative Economy Agency (Kemenparekraf/Baparekraf) in collaboration with the Indonesia Inbound Tour Operator Association (IINTOA) held a sales mission in two main cities in Vietnam, namely Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City. The aim of this activity is to increase the number of foreign tourist visits from Vietnam to Indonesia.

In this sales mission, Indonesia will promote various attractive tourist destinations in Indonesia to the Vietnamese people. Apart from that, there will be a business meeting between Indonesian and Vietnamese tourism actors to discuss mutually beneficial cooperation. It is hoped that with this activity, Vietnamese tourists' interest in visiting Indonesia will increase.

This sales mission activity is one of the strategies carried out by the Indonesian government to expand the tourism market to Vietnam. By holding direct meetings and promoting attractive tourist destinations, it is hoped that it can attract Vietnamese tourists to choose Indonesia as their tourist destination. Apart from that, collaboration with IINTOA is also an important step in strengthening relations between tourism actors in the two countries.

In a sales mission held in Hanoi on February 27 2024 and Ho Chi Minh on February 28 2024, the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy has organized a meeting between 20 sellers consisting of travel agents and hotels and 69 buyers who are representatives of outbound Vietnam travel companies under the auspices of the Hanoi association UNESCO Travel Club.

Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno said that Vietnam is a promising market with a very significant increase in the number of tourists from 2022 to 2023. The number of tourists from Vietnam increased drastically from 68,067 in 2022 to 121,879 in 2023, showing an increase of 79 percent.

"In 2022, the number of foreign tourists from Vietnam will reach 68,067, and in 2023, this number will jump to 121,879, or an increase of 79 percent. This data has exceeded the pre-pandemic figure in 2019 which was only 96,024 foreign tourists," said Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy Sandiaga.

The sales mission event began with remarks and greetings from the chairman of IINTOA Paul Edmundus Tallo, followed by the Chairman of the Hanoi UNESCO Travel Club, the Indonesian LBBP Ambassador to the Socialist Republic of Vietnam Denny Abdi, and Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno via video tapping. After that, participants took part in two B2B Meeting sessions with a table top (round robin) pattern which ended with a lucky draw session and dinner together.

Deputy for Marketing at the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy/Baparekraf, Ni Made Ayu Marthini, stated that the sales mission in Hanoi succeeded in achieving potential transactions of 389,066 US dollars or around Rp. 6,030,523,000 with a potential number of participants reaching 4,186 people.

Meanwhile, in sales mission activities in Ho Chi Minh City, potential transactions were recorded at US$874,452 or around Rp. 13,554,006,000 with a potential number of participants reaching 3,593 people.

"From sales missions in these two cities, it is known that the tour packages most popular with potential tourists from Vietnam are the destinations Bali, Jakarta and Yogyakarta with a visit duration of 4 to 5 days," said Made.
