Jakarta, March 14 2024 - The Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy/Tourism and Creative Economy Agency (Kemenparekraf/Baparekraf) encourages strengthening the development of tourism potential in Central and Eastern Indonesia through strengthening collaboration between stakeholders in Technical Coordination Meetings (Rakornis) for the Development of Regional Tourism Destinations II” on March 4-5 2024 at Claro Hotel Makassar, South Sulawesi.
The Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy encouraged strengthening tourism potential in Central and Eastern Indonesia in the Technical Coordination Meeting for the Development of Tourism Destinations in Region II at the Claro Hotel Makassar, Monday (4/3/2024).
Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy/Head of the Tourism Agency (Menparekraf/Kabaparekraf) Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno in his statement, Thursday (14/3/2024), said the coordination meeting aimed to increase understanding of policies and strategies for developing tourism destinations and the creative economy.
"Also strengthening central and regional coordination and synchronization networks, as well as developing strategies, methods and collaborative actions in developing destinations and the creative economy," said Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy Sandiaga in his statement, Thursday (14/3/2024).
Deputy for Destination and Infrastructure Development of the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy/Baparekraf, Hariyanto said that 2024 is an important year as the final benchmark for the achievement of the RPJMN (National Medium Term Development Plan) for the 2020-2024 period and the transition period for the next RPJMN, namely the 2025-2029 period as well as guarding the achievement of a golden Indonesia through RPJPN 2025.
Based on the 2025-2029 RPJMN Technocratic Draft, the national tourism development strategy will focus on the areas of Lake Toba, Borobudur, Lombok-Mandalika, Labuan Bajo, Manado-Likupang, Bangka Belitung, Bromo-Tengger-Semeru, Wakatobi, Morotai, Raja Ampat, three Greater areas (Regenerative Bali, Batam-Bintan and Jakarta), and 1 IKN Economic Superhub.
Meanwhile, the priority locations for Creative Economy Development focus on 12 areas, namely Jakarta, West Java, DI Yogyakarta, East Java, Banten, Central Java, Bali, Riau Islands, East Kalimantan, North Sumatra, West Sumatra and South Sulawesi.
"In the policy direction of this technocratic design, for tourism it is also stated that one of the targets to be achieved is the development of quality tourism destinations according to market preferences which are developing towards sustainable tourism and regenerative tourism," said Hariyanto.
Main Inspector of the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy/Baparekraf, Bayu Aji, added that the recovery of the tourism sector and creative economy is getting stronger after the COVID-19 pandemic even though it has not yet reached pre-pandemic levels. This can be seen from data recorded by the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) regarding visits by foreign tourists (tourists) in 2023 of around 11.6 million people.
"This figure has increased by 98.3 percent from the achievement in 2022," said Bayu.
The coordination meeting was also attended by the Director of Regional Destination Development II, Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy/Baparekraf, Bambang Cahyo Murdoko; Deputy Secretary for Destination and Infrastructure Development of the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy/Baparekraf, Titik Lestari; Director of Regional Destination Development I Kemenparekraf/Baparekraf, Sri Utari Widyastuti; Director of Creative Economy Infrastructure, Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy/Baparekraf, Oneng Setya Harini, Director of Destination Management, Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy/Baparekraf, Florida Pardosi; and Heads of Provincial/Regency/City Tourism Services throughout Bali, West Nusa Tenggara, East Nusa Tenggara, Kalimantan, Sulawesi, Maluku, Papua.
