Gorontalo, February 27, 2024 - The Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy/Head of the Tourism and Creative Economy Agency (Menparekraf/Kabaparekraf), Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno, has launched the Calendar of Events (CoE) that will be held in the province of Gorontalo throughout 2024. This initiative aims to promote the tourism sector in the region through a series of outstanding events that are expected to boost tourist movement.
The Calendar of Events serves as a comprehensive guide for both locals and tourists, providing information on the various activities and festivals that will take place in Gorontalo. By showcasing the diverse cultural heritage and natural beauty of the province, these events aim to attract a larger number of visitors and stimulate economic growth in the tourism sector.
With the launch of the Calendar of Events, Gorontalo is set to become a vibrant hub of cultural and tourism activities. From traditional art performances to culinary festivals, there will be something for everyone to enjoy. This initiative not only highlights the unique offerings of Gorontalo but also positions the province as a must-visit destination for both domestic and international travelers.
Menparekraf Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno launched the Calendar of Events (CoE) that will be held in Gorontalo Province throughout 2024 as an effort to promote the tourism and creative economy sector in the region through a series of flagship events that are expected to increase tourist movement. The launching event, titled "Launching CoE Gorontalo 2024," took place at the Auditorium of the Bank Indonesia Representative Office in Gorontalo Province on Wednesday (28/2/2024).
During the event, Menparekraf Sandiaga expressed his appreciation for the consistent efforts of the Gorontalo Provincial Government in supporting the progress of the tourism and creative economy sectors in the region.
"The hope is that the tourism and creative economy sectors can become a strong ecosystem that opens up wide business opportunities and job opportunities for the people of Gorontalo, with a national target of 4.4 million job opportunities," said Sandiaga.
The Gorontalo Calendar of Events for 2024 has unveiled three selected events that are part of the 110 Kharisma Event Nusantara (KEN) 2024 by the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy. These events include the Gorontalo Karawo Carnival, the Lake Limboto Charm Festival, and the Love Tree Charm Festival.
Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy, Sandiaga Uno, revealed the reasons why the curators chose these three events as national events. The Gorontalo Karawo Carnival has already become a tourist attraction that is now an icon of Gorontalo.
The selection of these events highlights the unique cultural and natural attractions that Gorontalo has to offer, showcasing the rich heritage and beauty of the region to a wider audience. This recognition as national events will further promote tourism and boost the local economy in Gorontalo.
The Festival of Love Trees Charm was selected due to the extraordinary community involvement in preparing the event that will take place throughout the year 2024. Meanwhile, the Festival of Lake Limboto is related to environmental aspects. We must preserve its ecosystem. That is why the curators chose these three festivals as the best festivals to be included in the National Event Calendar in 2024," said Sandiaga.
Governor of Gorontalo, Ismail Pakaya, stated that the organization of this event will be a platform to showcase and promote local artistic works and creative products with the hope of inclusive economic turnover. The Festival of Love Trees Charm was chosen due to the exceptional community participation in organizing the event that will span the entire year of 2024. On the other hand, the Festival of Lake Limboto is connected to environmental concerns, emphasizing the importance of ecosystem preservation.
The Festival of Love Trees Charm was highlighted for its extensive community engagement in preparing for the year-long event in 2024. In contrast, the Festival of Lake Limboto was chosen for its focus on environmental aspects and the necessity to protect its ecosystem. Governor Ismail Pakaya of Gorontalo expressed that these events will serve as a platform to exhibit and promote local artistry and creative products, aiming for an inclusive economic boost.
On the other hand, the organization of this event can further strengthen national unity and unity through cross-regional collaboration.
"Hopefully this can be an inspiration for the younger generation to continue developing their talents and creative potential. Of course, preserving the dignity of local culture to remain sustainable," said Ismail.
