Increasing Tourist Visits, Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy Holds Series of Promotions for DPSP Borobudur

 Jakarta, March 6 2024 - The Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy/Tourism and Creative Economy Agency (Kemenparekraf/Baparekraf) is holding a number of promotional activities for the Borobudur destination to increase tourist visits to one of these super priority tourism destinations.


The promotional activity carried out by the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy/Baparekraf through the Directorate of Archipelago Tourism Marketing is in the form of an introductory tour (famtrip) involving 20 national travel agents/tour operators from a number of provinces, namely DKI Jakarta, Banten, West Java, East Java and North Sulawesi.


The Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy is holding a number of promotional activities for the Borobudur destination to increase tourist visits to one of the super priority tourism destinations in the form of an introductory tour (famtrip) involving 20 national travel agents/tour operators, Borobudur, (6/3/2024).

In this activity which took place from 4 to 6 March 2024, participants were invited to visit DPSP Borobudur and several tourist destinations in the surrounding area.

"Especially welcoming Vesak Day on May 23 2024 which is also followed by school holidays," said Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy Sandiaga.

It is hoped that this event will attract tourists to come to DPSP Borobudur, especially for Buddhists, both in Indonesia and from abroad.

"This step is also one way to increase domestic tourist travel, which is the low hanging fruit in reviving the tourism industry after the COVID-19 pandemic," said Sandiaga.

Deputy for Marketing at the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy/Baparekraf, Ni Made Ayu Marthini, explained that apart from promotional activities in the form of introductory tours, promotional activities for DPSP Borobudur were also followed by sales mission activities which would be held from 7 to 8 March 2024 at the Sahid Raya Hotel and Convention, Yogyakarta City.

"A total of 60 (sixty) participants consisting of 20 (twenty) sellers (tourist villages, tourist destinations, travel agents/tour operators, accommodation and MSMEs), and 40 (forty) buyers (travel agents/national tour operators as well as local agencies and schools) will participate in this activity," said Made.

This series of activities is expected to boost the fulfillment of this year's domestic tourist movement target of 1.2 billion to 1.5 billion trips.

"Meeting targets for the progress of the tourism sector in Indonesia requires full participation and collaboration from all elements of the pentahelix, including academics, government, business people, media and the community," said the Director of Marketing for Nusantara Tourism, Dwi Marhen Yono.
