Jakarta, March, 4, 2024 - The Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy/Agency of Tourism and Creative Economy (Kemenparekraf/Baparekraf) commends the collaboration between the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology (Kemendikbudristek), the Jakarta Provincial Tourism and Creative Economy Office (Disparekraf), Jakarta Film Week (JFW), the Indonesian Film Producers Association (APROFI), and the film industry players for successfully bringing Indonesia to the forefront as a country pavilion for the first time at the Hong Kong International Film & TV Market (FILMART).

The presence of Indonesia at FILMART provides an excellent opportunity to showcase the diverse and vibrant Indonesian film industry to an international audience. The theme 'Discover Indonesia' aims to captivate the interest of global film enthusiasts and industry professionals, inviting them to explore the rich cultural heritage, breathtaking landscapes, and unique stories that Indonesia has to offer. This participation not only promotes the country's tourism and creative economy but also strengthens collaborations and partnerships within the international film community.

This theme is chosen to illustrate the richness and diversity of Indonesia in the screen industry, especially in films. "This theme shows how Indonesia is able to present creative, innovative, inspiring, and positively impactful works for the global community," said Nia.

The Hong Kong International Film & TV Market (FILMART), which will be held on March 11-14, 2024 in Hong Kong, is a leading cross-media and cross-genre entertainment content market in Asia. Nia mentioned that there will be 15 production house delegations present at the Hong Kong International Film & TV Market (FILMART), including Adhya Pictures; BASE Entertainment; IDN Pictures; KawanKawan Media; Lifelike Pictures; Lumine Studio; MAGMA Entertainment; MD Entertainment; MNC Contents; Palari Films; Produksi Film Negara; Rapi Films; Starvision; Talamedia; and Visinema Picture.

Meanwhile, Special Staff for the Director General of Culture at the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology, Alex Sihar, expressed that the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology also supports the Indonesian film sector to go international.

"Of course, the support is more on the substance if it's from the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology, and it encourages, as mentioned by Mas Nadiem Makarim, to encourage more co-productions of Indonesian films and invite foreign filmmakers to be involved in various projects," said Alex.

Alex also mentioned that another form of support provided by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology is through the Cultural Endowment Fund program, which is distributed to cultural activists through Indonesiana.
