Berlin, March 8 2024 - Deputy Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy/Deputy Head of the Tourism and Creative Economy Agency (Wamenparekraf/Kabaparekraf) Angela Tanoesoedibjo paid a working visit to Internationale Tourismus-Börse (ITB) Berlin, Germany, one of which was to meet with representatives of Qatar Airways in an effort to strengthen cooperation in the tourism and creative sector as well as boost visits by foreign tourists to Indonesia.

Deputy Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy Angela Tanoesoedibjo met with Qatar Airways representatives during a working visit to ITB Berlin, Germany, Wednesday (6/3/2024).

Deputy Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy Angela explained that at this meeting strategic issues were discussed, including Joint Marketing between the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy and Qatar Airways, which has routes to 160 countries throughout the world.

"Qatar Airways said that they want the MoU on cooperation with the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy which was signed in Yogyakarta and is valid for 2 years, and its implementation can continue to be improved with various joint promotional activities because Qatar Airways has direct flights to Jakarta, Bali and Medan. "More technical joint promotion will be discussed with GM Qatar Air in Jakarta," said Deputy Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy Angela.

The Deputy Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy said that he would organize cooperation in holding a travel agent/tour operator (TA/TO) famtrip to Medan in the near future.

This is because Qatar Airways flights, until January 2024, have increased the frequency of flights on the route from Hamad International Airport (DOH), Doha, Qatar, to Kualanamu International Airport (KNO), Medan, Indonesia to three times a week.

“We will arrange a TA/TO famtrip to Medan in the near future. This is a potential destination because Qatar Airways has opened a Doha to Medan route. "Qatar Air is ready to connect with tour operator/travel agent partners throughout the world with Indonesian tourism partners," said Deputy Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy Angela.

The Deputy Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy said that Qatar Airways is ready to support various tourism events and international sporting events held in Indonesia.

"We hope that strengthening the existing cooperation can support the achievement of the target of 14.3 million visits in 2024," said Deputy Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy Angela.
